iyo okumi: Hobonichi 5-Year Techo Gift Set – haconiwa (2027-2031)

The Hobonichi 5-Year Techo Gift Set is a gift box for the Hobonichi 5-Year Techo that comes with a specially made embroidered cover, a pencil board and a small card, all neatly arranged in a beautiful box.

We created this box with designs by embroidery artist and illustrator iyo okumi. The cover and pencil board are all designed by okumi. The theme of this set is haconiwa, which means miniature garden in Japanese. Inside the box is another turquoise blue box containing the regular-sized Hobonichi 5-Year Techo (2027-2031), its cover, a pencil board and iyo okumi’s brand card.

Specially made for this set is a linen cover machine-embroidered with okumi’s design of a beautiful miniature garden. The bright green garden is filled with white and yellow flowers blooming here and there — look closely and you’ll find animals as well. The storybook-like scenery matches the delicate embroidery well, creating a romantic atmosphere. At the centre of this garden is its resident, sitting down and reading a book, and on the back cover a charming butterfly flutters gracefully through the air.

The cover comes with a pale yellow bookmark that has a tassel at the end, and the pen hook on the inside right can hold a pen by its clip. The pencil board is illustrated with the garden in coloured pencil, with a beautiful leopard on the top left.

We also put a lot of thought into the box. The lid depicts animals playing with lively plants, with the words Your Story foil-pressed in gold at the centre. When you close the cover of this box you’ll see the design itself looks like a book, and the spine is decorated with animals in gold-foil print. The inside of the box illustrates the garden as well, making the box itself just like a haconiwa — literally, a box garden. You can store your 5-Year Techo and other favourite items and stationery inside to create a special place just for yourself.
