The Moomin series was created in 1945 by Tove Jansson—Finland’s beloved author, painter, and artist.

Set in Moominvalley, the stories follow the gentle and curious Moomintroll; the dream-chasing and romantic Moominpappa; the warm-hearted and nurturing Moominmamma; the mischievous and strong-willed Little My; and the freedom-loving, solitary Snufkin—a cast of unique characters embarking on delightful adventures.

This design features a scene from the novel Finn Family Moomintroll. Moomintroll and his friends are playing in a jungle that the mysterious hat has caused to grow around the Moominhouse. The back shows the moment when Moominmamma wakes up and realises her room is filled with tiny white flowers.

The back has markings at 1 mm intervals along the long edge, so it can also be used as a ruler.

Tove Jansson (1914-2001) was a Finnish-Swedish writer and artist, who achieved worldwide fame as the creator of the stories about the Moomins, written and illustrated between 1945 and 1977. The Moomin family and their friends live an adventurous life in the idyllic and peaceful Moominvalley in harmony with nature. They are a family of white and roundish trolls with large snouts.
