Hobonichi 2027 Accessories: Moomin – Hobonichi Graph Notebook (A5) – Moomin

We created the Hobonichi Graph Notebook in response to requests for a standard notebook that feels just like the Hobonichi Techo.

This one features designs from Moomin, the beloved series created in 1945 by Finnish author, painter and artist Tove Jansson.

The cover uses an illustration from the novel Moominsummer Madness, showing Moominpappa struggling to write a play script, with Moominmamma watching over him with concern. Below the Hobonichi Graph Notebook logo is a message in Finnish that reads: Write as much as you like.

The cover is made from matte grey material with silver foil stamping for the Hobonichi Graph Notebook title, the Finnish message and the Moomin logo on the back. The red spine tape adds a crisp accent, resulting in a colour scheme that highlights the charm of the characters while maintaining a sophisticated look.

The back cover also features an illustration from Moominsummer Madness, this time of Moominpappa hard at work rewriting the script for the play to be performed with all his friends.

The notebook has thin and durable Tomoe River paper and opens completely flat. This is the A5 size, made to match the Cousin: 10 mm thick with 288 pages, which gives you plenty of space to fill to your heart’s content. The A6 size is a separate item, sold on its own.

The 3.7 millimetre graph paper is the same as that of the Hobonichi Techo Original and Cousin. The colour of the ink on the page changes (red, blue, green, purple) every 72 pages, which makes it easy to split the book into several themes or use the colours as a way to more easily find old entries.

Because the book size matches the A5 Cousin, you can use this notebook inside a Cousin techo cover. The cover is great for storing items like pens or sticky notes, and provides a very convenient user experience.

The notebook is a great supplement to the Hobonichi Techo, or simply a book to keep by your side for filling with lots of writings or drawings.

Tove Jansson (1914-2001) was a Finnish-Swedish writer and artist, who achieved worldwide fame as the creator of the stories about the Moomins, written and illustrated between 1945 and 1977. The Moomin family and their friends live an adventurous life in the idyllic and peaceful Moominvalley in harmony with nature. They are a family of white and roundish trolls with large snouts.
