Hobonichi 2027 Accessories: Akiko Miyakoshi – Hobonichi Pencil Board for Weeks (Lazy Morning)

The Akiko Miyakoshi Hobonichi Pencil Board for Weeks (Lazy Morning) is made to fit the Weeks techo. It prevents ballpoint pens from slipping on the page and keeps indentations from forming, making for a much more comfortable writing experience.

Hobonichi have selected three designs from the work of picture-book artist Akiko Miyakoshi — each one inviting you to linger over her delicate brushwork, the texture of light and shadow, and the quiet sense of atmosphere and fragrance that drifts through her scenes. The other two designs are made for the other techo sizes and are sold separately.

“Lazy Morning” was inspired by a photograph of French actress Charlotte Gainsbourg. Miyakoshi says she “wanted to capture the fresh light of morning.” The reverse side is light blue, evoking the crisp morning air and the scent of clean sheets.

The back has markings at 1 mm intervals along the long edge, so it can also be used as a ruler.

The corner of the pencil board includes a “Today” tab, which will act as a bookmark to show which day you’re on if you put it between the pages of your techo.

The Akiko Miyakoshi series also includes techo covers, a Weeks and a notebook, and they are a quiet pleasure to use together as a set.

Akiko Miyakoshi is a children’s book author, born in Saitama Prefecture in 1982 and now living in a town at the base of the mountains in Nagano while creating new works. She debuted in 2009 with The Storm, has won several awards in Japan and internationally for The Tea Party in the Woods, The Way Home in the Night and Little Shrew, and her other books include I Dream of a Journey, The Piano Recital and Tom and Momo. Her works are currently published in over 15 languages, and she also contributes illustrations to magazines and other publications.
